A workshop was organized by the Palestine Higher Council for Youth and Sports in Jericho on Thursday, 26 April 2012, attended by high level officials from the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations Agencies. In his speech, the Council Secretary General Mr. Jibril Rjoub stressed on the reasons behind the establishment of the Higher Council, its role towards the young generation, and the three major issues that face the Council; political division between West Bank and Gaza , its implications and contradiction in mechanisms. He also talked about the works of the 23 UN agencies working in oPt as “it is about time to solve all three major issues in a national context”, Rjoub said. Mrs Barbara Piazza-Georgi, UNFPA Representative said in her statement “UNFPA is keen to work hand in hand with the Palestine Higher Council because youth is in the heart of UNFPA mandate”.
