The humanitarian pause that took effect from 24-30 November 2023 enabled the delivery of assistance across Gaza, including UNFPA’s life-saving reproductive health kits to hospitals and individual clean delivery kits for distribution to pregnant women north of Wadi Gaza (the north). However, during the first weeks of December, the distribution of humanitarian assistance has been limited mainly to Rafah as other areas are largely inaccessible.

UNFPA RESPONSE STRATEGY

UNFPA is appealing for US$ 14.1 million to implement a three month response plan aligned with the revised Flash Appeal (October- December).

The occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) is facing a protracted political crisis, marked by 55 years of Israeli military occupation, lack of adherence to international humanitarian and human rights law, economic crisis, falling aid inflows, and recurrent hostilities. The humanitarian situation has further deteriorated in 2022 due to the escalation in Gaza and a volatile security environment, leading to chronic protection concerns and humanitarian needs.

UNFPA continues its commitment to thrive for the best outcome of women's health and wellbeing, by strengthening the role of midwives in the field of Sexual and Reproductive  Health (SRH). Furthermore, UNFPA plans to ensure wider engagement of midwives with the community.
