In Gaza, the security risks, mobility restrictions, and transportation shortages pose significant challenges for pregnant women in accessing safe and timely healthcare services. Many struggle to reach medical facilities for childbirth, which is further compounded by the seasonal risks of winter and floods. To address these challenges, UNFPA has provided Clean Delivery Kits (CDKs), a vital resource to help prevent infections and ensure hygienic births when access to healthcare facilities is not possible. These kits are designed with essential hygiene items to support both the mother and newborn, helping mitigate the risks of childbirth outside medical facilities.

The CDKs are distributed to visibly pregnant women, especially in areas with limited healthcare access, ensuring they have the necessary tools for a clean and safe delivery. The kits are accompanied by vital health education on pregnancy, childbirth, and when to seek professional care. This initiative not only provides the physical resources for a safe delivery but also empowers women with the knowledge to plan and seek appropriate care, even in emergency situations. By prioritizing accessibility, hygiene, and education, this program aims to reduce the risks associated with childbirth in challenging circumstances.
