Supported by UNFPA, the new national Obstetrics Guidelines and Labor Ward Protocols from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, effective March 2024, is a comprehensive guide that represents a significant advancement in our commitment to improving maternal and neonatal care. Developed through extensive collaboration among different health care providers from the West Bank and Gaza Strip, these guidelines aim to address healthcare disparities, enhance the quality of childbirth, and reduce maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. They provide healthcare providers with a robust framework for managing all aspects of childbirth, including labour, delivery, and postnatal care, while also offering specific protocols for high-risk pregnancies and thromboprophylaxis.
We encourage all healthcare professionals and stakeholders in Palestine to integrate these guidelines into their practice and by doing so, we can collectively ensure that every pregnancy is managed with care, every birth is safe, and every mother and child thrive.
