Multi media outlets reported on the launching meeting which took place in Ramallah on 12 September 2011 announcing the results of the Palestinian Family Survey in the oPt. The survey was successfully conducted by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics in cooperation and partnership with the Ministry of Health, and financial and technical support from the UNFPA and UNICEF.
The sample population for the survey was 15,000 and many indicators were included such as child mortality, maternal health and fertility rate. A detailed analytical report will be published for each governorate separately. In her opening remarks Mrs. Barbara Piazza-Georgi, UNFPA oPt Representative stressed on the importance of the survey on a national level, as it gives baselines for d development trends of the population’s health and dynamics. She praised the focus on women’s health, youth, children and the elderly, and appealed to everyone present to utilize the data extensively.
