The UN Security Council adopted Resolution No. 1325 at its 4213th meeting held on 31 October 2000. Resolution 1325 calls upon UN member States to enable women to play a larger role in the maintenance and promotion of peace at the international level, participate in prevention of international armed conflicts, and actively participate in political decision-making. This stems from the commitment of the international community towards women’s political participation and achieving gender equality.
