GBV Trends Analysis in Gaza, January - March 2026

Publication date

15 May 2026

This report analyzes gender-based violence (GBV) trends in Gaza between January and March 2026, highlighting the escalating protection risks faced by women and girls amid displacement, deteriorating living conditions, and the collapse of essential services. Psychological and emotional abuse (34%) and denial of resources, opportunities and services (32%) were the most reported forms of GBV, alongside growing concerns around forced marriage, sexual exploitation and abuse, and severe mental health impacts among survivors.

Despite immense operational constraints, the report also highlights that 41 GBV partners continued delivering lifesaving protection services across Gaza, including case management, multisectoral GBV prevention and response interventions, and GBV risk mitigation services through community outreach, shelters, and Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS).

The analysis calls for urgent investment in GBV prevention and response, expanded support for women-led organizations, strengthened protection for adolescent girls, and greater integration of GBV risk mitigation across humanitarian sectors. Read the report for key trends, operational challenges, and recommendations to strengthen protection and resilience for women and girls in Gaza.
